If you're expecting a mass exodus anytime soon, FORGET ABOUT IT!
by nowwhat? ini have to make a token appearance at the k.h.
once a month or so and this week went to a different hall.
and believe me they are all still totally oblivious to all the negative news about the pedophiles and shunning that have come under scrutiny by the media and other governments.

The above is a rare case of postmodifier usage in English: galore (adjective) following Potential (noun). Time immemorial and court martial are two others.More importantly, however, is your bringing to mind -- once again, today -- my current study of modes of persuasion: ethos, pathos, logos, kairos. As you surely already know, the speaker must be credible; he will appeal to his audience's emotions; he will "prove his case"; he will choose the right time to present that case. Of course, as in any argument, what is the basis -- "facts" -- that bolsters his argument? Herein lies the crux of the matter: is he misleading his auditors? When I preached the Good News of the Kingdom, I had all my spiritual ducks in a row, employing the four components of persuasive speech, and I had Jehovah as my backer! Well, it all comes down to "logos" -- truth or error. -

This poor unfortunate person make a mistake and ended up downloading several org publications from *gasp* an apostate website!! But, fortunately Jehobah's spirit was at work, and the holy spirit guided this man to "get the correct understanding" from the literature he read. -- OrphanCrow
How old memories are triggered is illustrated by my recollection just now of an occurrence at Bethel, circa 1970. One of my newbie peers was dismissed because, from afar, Dad was influencing him with "old light," that emanating from the discarded works of Joseph Rutherford. Apparently, the son was significantly influenced by JFR, via Dad, to have his Bethel personality corrupted, hence making his further stay impossible.
No Internet then, just phones and letters and personal visits . . .

Memorial.. To go or not to go
by Emily1987 inso, as some of you will know myself and my husband are in the process of fading.
haven't been to a meeting since beginning of 2017. .
we weren't planning on going to the memorial, but last week my mother broke down and said that we have to go to the memorial even if it's the only meeting i go to this year.

I hope it works out for you, Emily.
Last year was my first skip by personal choice (ill once before).
Some were happy to see me, others not so much. Although properly attired, I had (and still have) a beard and very long hair. While their not saying so, my family seemed embarrassed when I used to attend regularly, and I don't want to cause them stress. My grooming is an outward mark of defiance, in their point of view. Mine? I'm just a delayed hippie.
Besides the above, I may be invited to the Hall but never into the home of a JW, including family.
Best Wishes.

Take My Hand and Lift My Heart
by compound complex inas i journey through life, i take a path not traveled by others, or so it would seem.. i reach out, sometimes in tears, more often with hope, that another sole wanderer.
will come along with me and share the journey leading to better times and places.. it is as if, however, no one hears the murmurings of a heart wishing company,.
one with whom to share in nature's wonders, to delight in what she has wrought.. i continue to meander through life's lanes untrammeled, knowing that soon you'll.

Does`nt that prose just sum up this forum to a tee ? Well that`s what i got out of it anyway. -- smiddy
Well, smiddy, I guess it can do just that!
The cool thing about expressing our thoughts is that we never know how exactly the words will affect the listener or reader, triggering a memory, creating a mood, showing a situation in an entirely different light, etc.
My original idea was borne of something I wrote a while back on unrequited love. Both individuals suffer: the one who loves but is not loved back in the way one wishes and the recipient of unwanted attention, who feels guilty. So then, "I want to be your friend and enjoy the beauties of life together, but I can't be more than a good friend."
There are tears and heartache in life and love.

2017 Film "The Dark Tower" written by Stephen King
by Not_Culty inat 18:21 features old watchtower headquarters in a slow scan.
for many of us its the real dark tower.. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1648190/.

I saw it a couple weeks ago but had to go online to recall it.
Idris Elba was very good as The Gunslinger; otherwise, the film was rather dull and dark. Matthew McConaughey was a cardboard cutout villain.
The reviews indicate the Stephen King books are chock full of action and detail, difficult to properly translate to an hour and a half on film.
As I wrote, I'd all but forgotten it . . .

Mary Magdalene - Movie Review
by cofty inso mrs cofty and i went to see the new movie last weekend on the gospel story told from the perspective of mary magdalene.. the first ten minutes are excellent and then jesus turns up and it's all downhill from there.
it was pope gregory who decided in 1591 that mary m was a penitent prostitute, even though the gospels contain no such reference.
was she the mary from whom seven demons were cast or was she just unlucky to share a name with a different mary?

Jesus died at age 33 and they cast Caucasian Joaquin Phoenix, who looks like a chain smoking 45 yr old. 😏😑 Really Hollyweird?? You couldn't find a Mediterranean younger looking actor of sorts from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, N. Africa or Israel ect to portray Jesus more on the money?? -- Kristina Romano, comments on trailer page
